How to calculate BMI?

Formula: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m)
Example: 70 kg ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = BMI of 22.9

WHO guidelines: under 18.5 = underweight; 18.5–24.9 = healthy weight; 25–29.9 = overweight; 30+ = obese. These apply to adults aged 18–65.

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It doesn't distinguish muscle from fat. A muscular athlete may have a high BMI without being overweight. It's less reliable for elderly people, children, and pregnant women.
